In 1922, Johanna Altenburg began producing quilts manually to support her family. The first Altenburg product was born from the hands of a hardworking mother and her entrepreneurship. Years later, the company passed into the hands of Arno and Anna Altenburg. Today, grandson Rui Altenburg teaches the paths laid out by Johanna to his children, who make Altenburg one of the largest textile industries in the country. Altenburg is today the largest producer of pillows in Brazil. It reached an average monthly revenue in the range of 30 million. Every month, more than 1.2 million Altenburg products are sold and reach the homes of Brazilians and all of Latin America. The company, with almost 100 years of tradition and innovation, is among the national leading brands, with a focus on design, technology, comfort, and quality. Each of our pieces is produced with the same care employed at the beginning of our history. We currently produce a wide line of products, such as duvets, bedspreads, bedding, protectors, pillows, and towels. Currently, Altenburg generates 1.7 thousand direct jobs and is present in over 7,000 points of sale in all Brazilian states, as well as countries in Latin America. It has two manufacturing units in Blumenau, a textile hub in Santa Catarina, one in Sergipe, an important state in the Northeast region, one in São Roque (SP), and another in Paraguay. It also sells its products in 13 own stores and through e-commerce.
