The Alfond Youth & Community Center: A Legacy of Fun, Fitness & Community! What began in 1924 as the Waterville Boys Club — later joined by the Girls Club and YMCA — has grown into something truly one-of-a-kind. In 1999, thanks to the vision and generosity of Harold Alfond, the two organizations united under one roof to create the Alfond Youth & Community Center (AYCC) — the only combined Boys & Girls Club and YMCA in the nation! Since then, the AYCC has become a hub for all ages and abilities — offering pools, gyms, a climbing wall, karate, dance, gymnastics, after-school care, and inclusive programs like Bambino Buddy Ball and the Unified Champion Club. We also nurture healthy living through our Growing Dome greenhouse and Pathway to Wellness Center. Sports lovers can play at Maine’s Fenway or Purnell-Wrigley Field, both MLB-sanctioned youth baseball fields that have hosted national tournaments and the Cal Ripken World Series! Our beloved Camp Tracy, a 32-acre waterfront campus on McGrath Pond, continues to inspire generations through outdoor adventure. And in 2025, we proudly opened the Alfond Lodge at Camp Tracy — a stunning lakeside venue for weddings, retreats, and community gatherings. Today, we serve 9,000+ members across 191 communities, offering something for everyone — from toddlers to seniors. For over 100 years, the AYCC has been where Waterville grows stronger together — one child, one family, one amazing experience at a time.
