About Aldeas Infantiles SOS Uruguay

Aldeas Infantiles SOS Uruguay was founded in 1960 with the purpose of providing a better present and future for thousands of children and adolescents who are without parental care or at risk of losing it. This objective is achieved through two modalities: In the Family Strengthening programs, we work with children, the community, women, and families to enhance the skills and capabilities of caregivers. For children who cannot be cared for by their families of origin, Aldeas Infantiles SOS has an alternative care program that provides a protective family environment. Currently, 350 children and adolescents live in our Family Care modality (we have three Villages: Montevideo, Florida, and Salto), and 1500 people, including children, adolescents, and adults, participate in the Family Strengthening programs. At Aldeas Infantiles SOS, we work in cooperation with governments, civil society organizations, and communities, in line with the principles established by the Convention on the Rights of the Child and the United Nations Guidelines.
