Turkey's leading chemical manufacturer Akkim Kimya was founded in Yalova in 1977. With over 1000 employees and production at 5 different locations, Akkim holds a special place in the chemical industry with its product diversity and ability to innovate at global standards. Akkim serves more than 70 countries on six continents with its wide product range, including chlor-alkali and its derivatives, peroxides, methylamines, persulfates, bisulfites, textile auxiliaries, concrete admixtures, and plastic additives. Akkim, a market leader in many products in basic chemicals and performance chemicals, is a solution partner for sectors such as cleaning, hygiene, water treatment, textiles, paper, construction, plastics, food, metal, energy, detergents, drilling, and mining. Utilizing its presence and synergy in the water treatment sector, Akkim has entered the advanced technology treatment sector with an investment in ultrafiltration membrane modules at its Yalova Facility. With its modern factory commissioned in 2016, it is the first and only manufacturer in this product in the region extending from Europe to Asia. Always prioritizing inorganic growth opportunities, Akkim added value to the white goods, kitchenware, oven, enamel, ceramic, and glass industries by acquiring Akcoat (Gizem Frit), the world's leading chemical coating materials manufacturer, in 2015. To be close to its customers in the European market and to grow its export activities, it incorporated the German chemical sales and marketing company Dinox in 2017. In 2021, USK Kimya, Turkey's largest carboxymethyl cellulose producer, was incorporated into Akkim. In the last quarter of the year, Akkim Silicon Kimya company was established, and the production of high-tech products, silicon polymers, began at its Yalova facilities. With Turkey's first epoxy resin production facility, for which investment approval has been received and which will be commissioned at the beginning of 2024, the production of a strategically important, entirely imported product will also begin.
