Rubí is a city in the Vallès Occidental region located 23 km from Barcelona, a strategic point in relation to the road network and with a growing modern industry. Its population in the mid-20th century was around 10,000 inhabitants and currently exceeds 75,000 inhabitants. This increase has been a consequence of the significant growth in the number of industries and companies, in a basically industrial city that has been specializing (chemical industry and pharmaceutical products, metal, automotive, textile...), and has led to a considerable increase in the service sector to meet the needs of the population. Some of the city's most emblematic buildings are Rubí Desenvolupament; the Masia de Can Serra, which houses the Business Services Office (OSE); La Sala Municipal Theatre; El Castell Ecomuseu Urbà, where a permanent exhibition on the city's history can be visited; Torre Bassas, the modernist building housing the youth facility; El Celler, converted into a new cultural facility since 2014; L'Ateneu, the space for entities; and the Pinar La Cruïlla Civic Center, among others.
