About 社会福祉法人 慶生会

In consideration of the founding principle of aiming for the salvation of all beings with the spirit of compassion, joy, and generosity, we wanted a name that carried on the lineage of the Buddhist Mutual Aid Association, our parent organization. We named it 'Keiseikai' to express the dignity of life and the joy of living. We coined this by playing on 'Kyōsaikai' and pronounced it 'Kyōseikai' using the Go-on reading, which is often found in Buddhist scriptures. However, the Go-on reading was not generally familiar, and the overwhelming majority of people pronounced it 'Keiseikai' using the Kan-on reading. Therefore, we decided it was acceptable to use either pronunciation, and 'Keiseikai' gradually became the common name. Nevertheless, the name 'Kyōseikai' encapsulates the ideals of Prince Shōtoku, the teachings of the founder Shinran Shōnin, and the spirit behind the establishment of a social welfare corporation by the Buddhist Mutual Aid Association.
