A Sino-US joint venture, Advancedcor (Beijing) Medical Technology Co., Ltd. is a high-tech enterprise located in the Zhongguancun National Independent Innovation Demonstration Zone. It was founded in April 2010 by Dr. Jie Jiangbing, a high-level talent under the "Thousand Talents Program" of the Organization Department of the CPC Central Committee. The company is dedicated to developing ophthalmic medical products with independent intellectual property rights and representing national brands, used to treat major eye diseases such as cataracts, glaucoma, and retinal diseases. Advancedcor has a GMP-standard production environment of 1800 square meters, equipped with various R&D and production facilities. It has undertaken major scientific and technological achievement transformation and industrialization projects in Beijing and industrial development fund projects supported by the Beijing Municipal Economic and Information Technology Commission. With R&D innovation as its core, the company has a complete scientific research management system and innovation incentive mechanism, and strong R&D capabilities. It has formed a professional technical team led by Dr. Jie Jiangbing, including experts in polymer, optics, mechanics, clinical medicine, and quality management, as well as many domestic and overseas experts. In 2013, the company was approved to establish the Beijing Engineering Laboratory for "Ophthalmic Biomaterials and Diagnosis and Treatment Technology." The company has established a postdoctoral (young talent) innovation practice base workstation in Beijing, providing a platform for industry-academia-research cooperation for the development of high-end domestic ophthalmic products. Since its establishment, the company has successively received honors such as Zhongguancun High-Tech Enterprise, National High-Tech Enterprise, the second batch of "Golden Seed" projects in the Zhongguancun Independent Innovation Demonstration Zone in 2012, and one of the top ten emerging enterprises in Zhongguancun in 2012. In 2014, it received project approval for the Beijing Municipal Science and Technology Small and Medium-sized Enterprises Technology Innovation Fund; and the Ministry of Science and Technology's SME Development Special Fund Technology Innovation Fund project in 2014. The company has received hundreds of millions in venture capital, including from the US Fidelity Fund. In the future, through independent R&D, it will enable China's intraocular lens and other high-value ophthalmic consumables production technology to reach the international advanced level, enhance the market competitiveness of domestic similar products, and replace imports.
