Bailian Group is a large state-owned key enterprise directly under the Shanghai Municipal Government. It is a large state-owned commercial circulation industry group formed by the merger and reorganization of the former Shanghai Yibai Group, Hualian Group, Youyi Group, and Wuzi Group. It was officially established in April 2003. The reorganization of Bailian Group was a major measure taken by the Shanghai Municipal Party Committee and Municipal Government from the perspective of building an international economic, financial, trade, shipping center and a modern international metropolis, in order to respond to the severe challenges brought by China's full opening of the retail market and service trade fields, enhance the vitality, influence and driving force of large state-owned enterprises, and create a new highland for Shanghai's modern service industry.
